I got in touch with blog more than 3 years ago. My best bud told me about it, but at that time I didn't really pay attention to it. I mean, come on, reading/sending emails was difficult enough with this kind of internet connection. Besides, my work required me to work never at my table so that it was kind of difficult to find time to sit down and write.
Then, Papap went to Japan. Again, my oscar-winning-kind-hearted buddy created a blog for Papap so that Papap could update us with his news and we (our gang and myself) could still get in touch with him. Papap's blog still exists till today.
When I went to Japan two years ago, this same buddy -again- created a blog for me. This blog. He created the blog, instead of me, for a simple reason: I was really a dummy in this internet world. I still am. But, having a lot of time in my hands (when I wasn't trying to cook, cleaning the apartment, or playing with Hikari), I could do more with the blog he created. I could make it live.
When I chose the name for this blog, I chose The Pages. Why? Because the blog was for so many people with so many requests. My parents and some friends wanted me to update them about our new life, but some others needed me to chat only, to talk about things. On the other hand, I got tired writing about our going here and there doing this and that only. I also needed to voice whatever was going on in my mind, without caring so much if my readers understood what I said. So, The Pages, then, because I wanted it to be like a newspaper where you could get all kinds of news about my life with me as the chief editor.
One thing I always make sure about this blog, I always mean what I write, whether it is a fun-light post or a forehead-wrinkling post. Another thing is since the beginning, I've treated this blog and blogging seriously. May be it is because -for me- writing is business. No matter how fun it can be, or whatever form it takes.
Although blogging activities are not, should not, considered something alien anymore nowadays, many people still think blogging is anything but a serious business. I don't blame them. A lot of people seldom think a blog is serious if it consists of daily-life stories. But then, so what?
Now, here it comes the thing that has dumbfounded me recently. I was asked: WHY DON'T YOU WRITE SOMETHING SERIOUS. SOMETHING THAT SHOW YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SURROUNDING, YOUR PEOPLE, YOUR COUNTRY?
By that, they meant "instead of talking about eating Sate Padang (or not eating it), why don't you write about Corruption, Government, Whatever happens in Society...?"
What do you think my answer was?
"plis deh.. ini kan blog gw.. mau gw apain juga terserah gw donk.." :P
ReplyDeletegitu bukan? :D
anyway, met taun baru ya! :)
"hmmm, ide yang sangat bagus. nanti akan saya tulis tentang sate padang dan dimana tempat2 yang enak dan nyaman buat makan sate ini."
ReplyDeletejudulnya bisa Government corruption, the sate padang gate.
ReplyDeleteKan title blog-nya bukan ttg corruption. Tulisan di blog kudu sesuai ma topik/judul blog toch?
ReplyDeleteEhmm...blogku pernah dikomentarin gitu juga koq mbak...tapi klo nulis kan kudu sesuai mood (kasusku lho), dan nulis di blog bagiku adalah sebagai my last resort...makanya dikasih judul begitu....heheheh
